My books
I am passionate about exploring new topics and finding solutions where I feel that the current approaches are inadequate. A book is just the end result after the many years of exploration and development of new perspectives.
Each of the books I have written started with a question, which I elaborate on below for each one. All my books are available on Amazon, Kindle and Audible
I don't currently have a book in the works as I'm focusing on short form writing through my Perspectives blog and newsletter. Sign up in the blue box to stay up to date on my latest thinking on life, leadership, and the future of work.
From Malthus to Mars (Fast Company Press, 2023)
I have worked extensively in the areas of future of work and organizations of the future. However, I always felt that there lacked a proper guide for what it takes to thrive in the future, as an individual and as an organization. I therefore teamed up with futurist and entrepreneur Lars Tvede to map out the future and asnwer these questions.
From Malthus to Mars is the first book of its kind that outlines a map of the future – and then works backwards from there to provide specific strategies for individuals and organizations to navigate and capitalize on the trends. It includes the 25 key vectors for the future, the 6 key mindsets for the future, and the 10 big organizational shifts that are already upon us.
The book was published in Danish (under the title Fremtidsklar) in September 2022 and was an immediate bestseller. It is also available in Chinese and Korean.
Return on Ambition (Fast Company Press, 2021)
I have been ambitious and my ambition has been both a strength and a challenge. For many years it pushed me too hard and I teetered on the brink of burnout. What surprised me was that many of my ambitious friends and colleagues also struggled and many were not fulfilled, despite what looked like a successful life on the surface.
Nicolai Tillisch and I studied ambition for 6 years and got case studies, interviews and survey input from hundreds of people globally. Return on Ambition reveals a groundbreaking framework to help high achievers maximize their impact while maintaining balance and well-being. This book empowers you to:
• Align your ambition with deeper fulfillment
• Overcome the hidden traps that derail high performers
• Cultivate the self-awareness, resilience, and habits needed for sustainable success
Whether you’re an executive, entrepreneur, or driven professional, Return on Ambition will help you achieve more—without sacrificing what truly matters.
The book is won the 2022 IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award Gold medal in Business & Career and was among the top 5 out of 10,000 books nominated in the getAbstract International Book Award.
Leadership At Scale (Hachette, 2018)
While there are many books about developing individual or team leadership, few if any deal with the question of scale.
In Leadership At Scale, I teamed up with two McKinsey Senior Partners to explore and answer the question "how can organizations develop hundreds or even thousands of leaders at the same time, to enable their strategies and rapidly adapt to a changing world?"
This book provides a systematic and fact-based leadership development approach that unlocks organizational performance. It is based on extensive research, distilled insights from McKinsey’s leadership development work in practice, and lessons from over 100 highly successful real-life leadership development programs.
